Dinner time here at the roller derby feast known as the
Women's Flat Track Derby Assosciation 2008 Western Regional tournament, the Battle Royale,
hosted by Houston Roller Derby.
Our kind hosts offer up for us a sumptuous repast to assuage our derby jones; the reigning national champions, the Kansas City Roller Warriors
(1W) who had a bye in the preliminary round and Duke City Derby (9W), the winners of the
first preliminary bout. The winner of this bout will advance to the semi final round and also qualifies for
the national championship tournament, the Northwest Knockdown, Nov. 14-16 in Portland, Oregon.
Will the Masters of the Universe, K.C. dominate as they did last year, even though their star jammer, Snot Rocket, is not skating in this bout?
Or can the talented up-and-comers, Duke City from Albuquerque pull off a win?
