That hot, tall Americano third quarter final was just the thing to get the morning started at the
Women's Flat Track Derby Assosciation 2008 Western Regional tournament, the Battle Royale,
hosted by Houston Roller Derby.
Now how about a tasty, substantial breakfast here at this three day roller derby feast?
On the menu are the inventors of flat track roller derby, Texas Rollergirls (3W) of Austin, Texas and Denver, Colorado's Rocky Mountain Rollergirls
(6W). The Texas Texecutioners had a bye in the preliminary round while Rocky Mountain's Fight Club advanced from the preliminaries with a win
in the fourth preliminary over Houston.
Texas was the 2006 national champion but lost to Rat City in the semi-finals of the 2007 championship tournament. That tournament was ultimately
won by the Kansas City Roller Warriors who seemed to come out of nowhere to defeat all comers. Can the up and coming Rocky Mountain team
take the veteran Texans by surprise, or will the Texecutioners reassert their mastery of the game? Pull up a chair and dig in.
